Stop Transource Team Meets with Governor’s Staff

STOP Transource Power Lines MD, Inc officials met with Governor Hogan’s staff on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the State House in Annapolis. The meeting was coordinated by District 7 Candidate Bill Paulshock. Bill attended the last Stop Transource Community Meeting on March 8, 2018 with long time friend Greg Goss. At the March 8th meeting, Bill offered to arrange a meeting with Governor Hogan’s staff.

The Directors of Stop Transource Power Lines MD, Inc along with Janet Archer, President of the Harford County Farm Bureau met with Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Deputy Chief of Staff to Governor Hogan; Kristal Quarker Hartsfield, Director of Intergovernmental Affairs; Mary Beth Tung, PH. D, ESQ, Director of Maryland Energy Administration and Joe Bartenfelder, Secretary of Agriculture.

During the meeting the concerns of our Community were shared, specifically the lack of need for the Transource IEC Project when existing underutilized infrastructure exists. Also emphasized were the facts that more cost-effective solutions to congestion exist such as upgrades to current infrastructure that would protect private property rights, protect land in agriculture preservation programs, minimize economic impacts to local businesses and minimize environmental impacts.

Governor Hogan’s staff were very receptive to the information we shared and discussed. Matter of fact Ms. Tung, Director of the Maryland Energy Administration stated to us at the conclusion of the meeting that it “was good to hear the other side”. STOP Transource Power Lines MD, Inc officials will continue their efforts to stop the damaging and unnecessary Transource IEC Project that will cause irreparable harm to our Community. Stay tuned!
